The foundation of our practice is called Person Centred Therapy. The goal of PCT is to provide clients with an opportunity to develop a sense of self where they can realize how their attitudes, feelings and behavior are being negatively affected.
Glasgow, and in particular the University of Strathclyde, is a centre of excellence in the Person Centred approach.
Emotion Focused Therapy builds on the Person Centred approach and is a structured approach to working with individuals, couples, or families. It includes elements of Gestalt therapy, constructivist therapy, systemic therapy, and attachment theory.
As an approach to counselling and psychotherapy, it draws the attention of the Client and the Therapist to what is being felt as each moment is experienced.
Life isn’t lived through text books, it is lived and felt. Our practice recognises the reality that every person experiences life in their own unique way, and our job is to support each Client in discovering what aspects of their journey to look at in detail and adjust.
You are the expert in yourself, no one can tell you more about you than you already know. However, a skilled therapist may be able to help you see yourself more clearly and more completely, recognising where your own perception has been less than perfect.
